Dr David Hilford

Dr David Hilford specialises in Surgery and Diseases of the Retina, Vitreous and Macula.

After a career as a secondary school science/mathematics teacher, Dr David Hilford completed his medical degree at the University of Queensland in 1997. He was awarded the Lilian Cooper Memorial Prize (Dux of the Course) and The University Medal.

Following his Resident years (which included civilian medical work with the Australian Defence Force) he completed Ophthalmology training in Brisbane. He then spent two further years undertaking Vitreo-Retinal Fellowships in Auckland, New Zealand, and at the prestigious John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, United Kingdom.

Dr Hilford has given presentations at state, national and international ophthalmology conferences, and has published articles in international peer-reviewed journals.

Dr Hilford has consulting rooms in Brisbane at Watkins Medical Centre on Wickham Terrace, Northside Eye Specialists in Chermside and Pine Rivers Eye Centre in Strathpine. He also consults in Toowoomba at the Toowoomba Eye Clinic. He operates at the Queensland Eye Hospital in Brisbane and at the Toowoomba Surgicentre in Toowoomba.

Dr Hilford proudly supports the Macular Disease Foundation Australia, being a member of the Medical Advisory Committee to the Foundation and also providing free weekend public lectures for the Foundation on topics such as Age-Related Macular Degeneration.
